Alaya Sexton
Alaya is the co-owner and program director of Iron and Grace and a recognized fitness industry leader. Her expertise draws from nearly 20 years of diverse education, training, and experience in fitness and wellness. She studied Viniyoga in 1994, not intending to have it set her on a health and fitness educator path, then became a certified personal trainer and Spinning instructor in 1995 and has since dabbled in most fitness trends over the years. When she discovered Pilates in 1998 it revolutionized her approach to all of her fitness endeavors. She was first certified via the Physical Mind Method and later by STOTT PILATES and is fully certified in all equipment and qualified to teach people who are rehabilitating and have other special needs.  She is one of the first instructors worldwide to have received the esteemed honor of being an Instructor Trainer in the STOTT PILATES method. In that role, she travelled the world teaching certification courses, presenting and working fitness industry tradeshows for 12 years. She believes in the heart of Joe Pilates' work and its ability to bridge the gap between medicine and movement, following that belief, she's sought education in  various brands of Pilates and is pre-trained in Gyrotonic expansion and gyrokinesis. Alaya is engaged and passionate about the study of movement and healing and continues to seek innovative and cutting edge education. Beyond Pilates and yoga, Alaya is trained in TRX, Rip Training, Anatomy Trains, Z health performance solutions, Pink Ribbon Program, Booty Barre, Total Barre, Reiki, FMS and Thai massage.  She is also a USAW certified strength and conditioning coach.
 
Her breadth of knowledge is applied to assure that all her students reach their goals safely and effectively.
Chad Sexton
Chad is the Co-Owner, CFO and kettlebell trainer at Iron and Grace.  He personally found the kettlebell to be the most effective way to build strength, flexibility and speed and it was much more fun than traditional weight lifting.  To that end, he was inspired to take the grueling, gold standard  RKC certification in 2009.  He is trained to work with the TRX, Rip Trainer and and rope undulation.  Being a lifetime athlete, teacher and a father gives Chad unique skills to motivate his students for an effective workout. His classes may include pieces of random historical information due to his voracious appetite for non-fiction. Chad enjoys an active lifestyle full of travel,  mountain biking and time with his family.
Tracey White
Tracey White is a veteran in the fitness industry, with a career spanning over 2 decades. While she started in group fitness and has received training in nearly every group fitness trend, she has evolved to appreciate functional movement and her clients appreciate her attention to moving well, balanced and strong before advancing. She is an ACE certified personal fitness trainer, AFFA group fitness instructor and has recently trained in the FMS, Booty Barre. She is a Level 2 TRX Trainer and is currently training in Pilates through Polestar. She is certified in Yamuna foot fitness and as a Barefoot Fitness specialist through EBFA. Lately her focus has been directed to corrective and therapeutic exercise and nutrition. She understands that clean eating is an important part of overall health Is trained as a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute of Integrated Nutrition based in NYC. She enjoys working with clients with diverse goals but has particular interest in helping those with compromised health and restoring balance through exercise and food therapy. Tracey studied at Randolph Macon Women's College and is a native to the area.
Julie Preston
Julie was first introduced to Pilates in 1989 during dance training under Bridgit Matuscheck, of Colorado Ballet. In September of 2001 Julie and her husband relocated from Colorado to Lynchburg to pursue historic restoration of a home in the downtown area where they reside. Julie can work with a broad range of clients but has particular interest and training to work with injuries and special populations and seniors. Julie received her matwork certification through STOTT PILATES ® in Toronto in 2003 and has since taken training on the Stability chair.  She is certified through ACSM as a personal trainer, trained in TRX suspension training and FMS. She is a lover of creativity and art and approaches her work meticulously but with an open heart and mind. Julie taught Pilates as well as dance, as the Director of Assemblé Dance Studio from 2002-2010.
Su Flint
Su Flint, BSN, is returning to teaching after a brief hiatus to obtain her nursing degree. She is an AFAA certified group fitness instructor and ACE certified personal trainer with 14 years of experience in group fitness and 10 years of teaching experience in power yoga. Su’s yoga style is strongly influenced by her mentors, Brian Kest and Baron Baptiste. Her philosophy of yoga practice is based on the theory that all participants may experience a unique practice in each class. Students can choose to practice softly or challenge themselves physically and aerobically. All levels of students are welcome and can be accommodated
Ashley Ancheta
Ashley has a strong dedication to her personal fitness as an integral part of balancing life as a mom, fitness coach and make up artist. Her interest began after the birth of her first child when she began teaching Baby Boot camps. Another child later, her passion and fire was full force and she was inspired to pursue training as a Beach Body Fitness coach and certifications in both PiYo ™ and CIZE™. She fits in great at Iron & Grace as she is passionate about her continuing education, adds a wonderful energy and understands the value of holistic health.
Leslie Davis
Leslie Davis, RYT 200, began practicing yoga in 2008 with Nancy Allen, her primary teacher. She continued her studies and practice of yoga with Desiree Rumbaugh, Cyndi Lee, Lila Brown, Paul and Sommer Sobin, and other wonderful teachers. She graduated in 2014 from the Thousand Petals Yoga Program in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is currently engaged in further teacher training program; OM YOGA with Cyndi Lee. Leslie hopes to inspire voluptuous women like herself to have a more positive relationship with their bodies. Her classes incorporate gentle movement in sync with the breath and emphasize proper alignment for both freedom and stability.
